Gansevoort Park Finally Rising On 29th And Park

(R) Rendering Of Gansevoort Park
It was originally to open in May of 2009. It will would take a miracle for that to happen, but The Gansevoort Park Hotel is finally rising on 29th Street and Park Avenue. The 250 room hotel will rise 19 stories and will include a 150 foot LED column in a nod to it's successful sister, The Gansevoort Hotel in the Meat Packing District. Also highlighted are three levels of outdoor space, a plunge pool, sundeck and rooftop bar and lounge. The new hotel is part of a recent revitalization of a lost neighborhood. In recent years Twenty 9th Park Madison and Skyhouse, upscale condos, have opened in the area and Madison Square Park has been completely renovated and revitalized. Given the area's central location, I guess it was inevitable that things would start to happen.
I'm excited for the neighborhood changes. For the better, I hope.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see anything moving ahead these days.
ReplyDeleteAny idea about what it replaced? Hopefully not any of the sturdy old 20s/30s buildings there, which are far, far superior to this ubiquitous glass-wall junk and do much more to make the city a more elegant, long-term desirable place to be...
ReplyDeleteYeah lately the big cities had been changing a lot, new building, new people from everywhere, specially new york because that city it's just business.
